Elon Musk has shown in his public comments that he probably doesn’t know the rocket equation. He might, but it doesn’t appear so.
The rocket equation determines whether a rocket sputters and fails to lift off, has a successful liftoff, or explodes.
Every teenage (or older) model rocketeer has to learn the rocket equation and has to successfuly make the computations for the correct amount of propellant for a successful rocket launch of their model rocket.

A 2018 incident in which Musk, who is also CEO of Tesla (TSLA.O), smoked marijuana on a live Web show with U.S. comedian Joe Rogan also sparked a security clearance review by the Pentagon. The New York Times said the new reviews were initiated by the Air Force, the Defense Department’s Inspector General and the undersecretary of defense for intelligence and security. The Air Force and undersecretary of defense for intelligence and security referred queries to the Defense Department’s Office of Inspector General. Last month, two Democratic U.S. senators, Jeanne Shaheen and Jack Reed, wrote in a letter that reports that Musk has held multiple calls with Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, should be investigated by the Pentagon and law-enforcement agencies on national security grounds. December 2020 a Starship SN8 prototype exploded on landing. In early 2021, SN9, SN10 (after landing), and SN11 (during descent) also exploded.
September 2016 a Falcon 9 rocket exploded on the launchpad during a routine pre-launch test, destroying the rocket and its communications satellite payload.
June 2015 a Falcon 9 rocket exploded 139 seconds after liftoff from Cape Canaveral. A sailure in a strut in the upper stage liquid oxygen tank resulted in the loss of a Dragon capsule and the supplies it was to carry to the International Space Station.
